There are some pictures of the meeting in the photo album on the website. John Roede gave a great presentation on the Franklin Pen Company of Philadelphia. His research included a lot of information on the families involved including some gathered from interviews of surviving descendents. John brought along examples of Franklin pens from various periods of the company’s history including eyedropper, plunger and lever filling pens.
Afterwards there was plenty of show & tell with plenty of both vintage and modern pens to play with. With nearly 20 people in attendance the conference table was full but the room was still comfortable.
The pen community mourns the passing of Al Mayman
In addition to being a member of the pen community at large, Al was an active member of our group and spoke at our second meeting.

Technical difficulties seem to have all been addressed and all of the initial content is live on the site.
New website!
We’ve migrated the Philadelphia Pens website to a new tool that gives us more space and more flexibility as of today. Actually, it is rebuilt rather than migrated, as there was no tool to actually move it. Some pain involved as there were some issues with Register.com (which they resolved), and they are working on issues with pictures and with forms, which they expect to have resolved shortly. I’m already impressed with how much easier this tool is and how much more we’ll be able to do.
